Investigators with the Fort Dodge Police Department are trying to figure out who broke into a local business and stole a number of guns.

Officers were called to the Iowa Outdoor Store, 1597 Third Ave. N.W., around 8 a.m. Thursday morning, according to Police Chief Tim Carmody.

He said when the employees arrived at the store, they found the front glass door shattered. The employees also noticed two glass gun cases were smashed with the handguns that were supposed to be inside of them missing. Several long guns were also stolen, according to Carmody.

Police are still trying to figure out how many guns were stolen.

Surveillance video inside the store showed two suspects wearing dark, heavy clothing entering the store. Carmody said one of the suspects was carrying a dark or purple duffle bag.

Anybody with information on this case is asked to call the Fort Dodge Police Department at 573-1426 or Crime Stoppers at 573-1444. Tips can also be sent online at wccrimestoppers.com and by texting "LEC" and the tip to 274637.
