Timothy J. Ellis, 32, of Fort Dodge, has been arrested in connection with a shooting investigation that began on Wednesday.
Ellis has been charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm as a habitual offender, a Class D felony.
The arrest comes in connection with a shooting investigation that started when a man checked himself into Trinity Regional Medical Center suffering from a gunshot wound.
Police Chief Tim Carmody said information developed in the case as well as a tip to Crime Stoppers led to Ellis' arrest.
Ellis made his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court Friday morning. He is being held in the Webster County Jail on bond.
