Badger firefighters remove the injured driver of a pickup truck involved in a two-fatality head-on collision Friday on Nelson Avenue near John F. Kennedy Memorial Park.
Another person in the same vehicle was injured, and the driver of the pickup was hurt. They were transported to Trinity Regional Medical Center. Their conditions were unknown at press time.
Miller said the initial investigation indicated that one of the vehicles lost control on the road. He was unable to determine which one. The pavement in the area was covered with large patches of ice which were a likely contributor to the accident, he said.
The accident happened shortly before 7 p.m.
The road remained closed for several hours while the accident was investigated. Traffic was routed around the area.
Miller offered some advice for anyone driving in the area.
"Slow down," he said. "The roads are still icy."
The Webster County Sheriff's Department, Fort Dodge Police Department, Badger Fire Department, Trinity Regional Medical Center, Fort Dodge Fire Department ambulance and the Iowa State Patrol responded to the accident.
