Chelsie Konecne, left, and Jeannie Newsom arrange candy in this Christmas display at Walgreens on Christmas Eve. Though the pharmacy will be closed, the store will be open Christmas day, said manager Mic Halilovic, for the convenience of its customers.
As in the past, Walgreens will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today. The pharmacy will be closed.
"It's for the convenience of our customers, and for the last-minute gift shoppers," said store manager Mic Halilovic.
Those customers always take advantage of the opportunity, he said.
"From 9 to 6 we do a ton of business. It's usually double the amount of business we do in a nine-hour period."
Fast food options in town include Burger King, open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Hardee's, open inside from 5 a.m. to midnight, with a 24-hour drive-through.
If fast food isn't what people are interested in, other restaurants will also be open.
Community Pizza and Tap, 2026 Fifth Ave. S., will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The restaurant, which usually stays open on Christmas, is expecting to see a pretty good crowd of people.
"We usually do pretty well on Christmas," manager Stephen Larsen said.
"Especially this year, with it being on Tuesday," said manager Jon Diehl. "A lot of people do their Christmas on the weekend."
Chen Garden, 217 S. 25th St., will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Those who want to catch a post-Christmas dinner movie will be able to enjoy one at the Fort 8 Theatre, 1417 Central Ave., which is open all day today.
Family Video will be open from noon to midnight.
For those who go to bed dreaming of after-Christmas sales, plenty of stores will hold doorbusters Wednesday morning. Kohl's and Walmart open at 5 a.m.; Younkers at 6 a.m.; Target, Sears and JCPenney at 7 a.m.; and Slumberland at 9 a.m.
