Man accused of SO registry neglect
POCAHONTAS - A convicted sex offender has been charged with not complying with the sex offender registry after allegedly being spotted outside a day care.
John S. Camp, 51, of Sac City, has been charged with failure to comply with the rules of the sex offender registry, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a statement from Pocahontas Police Chief Al Hinrickson.
On Dec. 14, police received a report of two suspicious men sitting in the grass by Discovery Daycare in Pocahontas, Henrickson said.
Though they had left by the time police arrived, officers were able to get a description of their vehicle. Officers stopped it south of Pocahontas and found Camp inside.
In addition to finding out he was a sex offender, officers allegedly found marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Camp was arrested and held in the Pocahontas County Jail with $3,300 bond.
