A dog is missing.
The family of the missing Jack Russell terrier named Jackie was involved in the 30-car pile-up Dec. 20 on I-35 near Webster City.
Jackie's owner, Colby Duckett Bostick, 27, was fatally injured after the family's car was pushed under an 18-wheeler. She was pregnant with twins. Husband Cody Bostick and 1-year-old son Easton, also in the car, were not injured.
It is unknown if Jackie suffered injuries.
Now, Almost Home Humane Society of North Central Iowa is helping reunite the family with their missing dog.
"I got a phone call from the brother of the husband from the accident saying he was in Texas, but really wants to help his brother and his nephew find their dog, who they haven't seen since the crash," Tania Dencklau, shelter manager, said.
The family emailed the shelter a picture of the dog, which Dencklau put on its Facebook page. Almost Home asks everyone to share it.
The image, posted Dec. 23, has already been shared by 795 people.
"We posted it in our lobby as well, and I've forwarded the email to other shelters and clinics around town," Dencklau said. "We're trying to get the word out the best we can so they can get their little girl home."
If the terrier is seen, contact the shelter immediately.
"We'll get in contact with either the husband or the husband's brother and we can line up transportation to go pick up the dog if need be," Dencklau said. "We'll do anything we can to get the dog back here and they can come get it from us or we can take it right to the family as well. Anything we can do to help."
