GOWRIE - Ingrid M. Hunter 94, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2012 at the Gowrie Care Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, at Zion Lutheran Church, Gowrie, with Pastor James Davis officiating. Burial will be at Gowrie Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.

Ingrid is survived by her children, Ron (Linda) of Windsor, WI, Rick (Karen) of Burnsville, MN, Randy (Kathy) of Fort Dodge, Rollie (JoAnn) of Fort Dodge, Ruthann (Steve Mohr) of Gowrie, Rod (Sue) of Martensdale, IA, and Ray (Jenny) of Lindenhurst, IL; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Russell Hunter in 1990; granddaughter, Terri Pearson; parents, CW (Will) and Anna Lindholm Carlon; and brother Franklin Carlon.

Ingrid Marie Carlon Hunter was born September 15, 1918 on a farm northeast of Gowrie. She graduated from Gowrie High School, with the Class of 1936, and also graduated from Iowa State Teacher's College in 1938. Ingrid taught school in Harcourt for two years. On July 20, 1940 she was united in marriage to Russell Hunter at Gowrie. The couple had seven children. In 1962, Ingrid returned to teaching as a substitute teacher for the Prairie Community, Cedar Valley, and Central Webster School Districts for 40 years, retiring at the age of 82 years. In 2008, Ingrid became a resident of the Gowrie Care Center. She was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, WELCA of Zion, American Legion Auxiliary, SvenskaKlubbin, and a former leader of the Clever Clay 4-H Club. Ingrid will be remembered for baking delicious pies.
