Leslie A. Hughes, a Fort Dodge native, will appear as a contestant on the upcoming 17th season of ABC's "The Bachelor."
"Everything is done, completed and it airs Monday, Jan. 7," Hughes said Thursday.
Hughes said being on the show was "great."
"For me, it was one of the best experiences I've ever done in my life," she said.
Hughes was unable to say, though, if she won bachelor Sean Lowe's heart.
In June, Hughes appeared on the FOX game show "Take Me Out" hosted by George Lopez, which ran for eight episodes.
Being on "The Bachelor" was "completely different."
"It's not a comparison at all," she said. "One's a game show, one you're trying to find love. One's real life, and one's a game show."
Hughes is originally from the Fort Dodge-Manson area, and still has ties to the area.
"My dad's in Fort Dodge and all my mom's side of the family is still in Manson," she said. "There's a few in Shelby. But overall it's mostly Manson."
Hughes has fond memories of Fort Dodge.
"Fourth of July, sitting on top of the roof of a truck at the college watching the fireworks," she said. "I come home all the time. I have a little brother, so I come home and visit."
Hughes values coming home, always with stories of living as an actress in Los Angeles.
"It's good to go now as I'm older, because it's small-town roots and very family oriented and L.A. is crazy," she said. "It's good to go home."
This month, Hughes will also be appearing on the FOX series "90210" and the ABC series "Happy Endings."
"Those are the only two things that will be released in January, and I'm just working on this year," she said. "I'm excited."
"The Bachelor" premieres Monday.
