EAGLE GROVE - The 15th-ranked (Class 2A) St. Edmond girls opened up 2013 with a convincing 58-19 victory over Eagle Grove Friday night.
Alli Huss scored 20 points to lead the Gaels (10-1 overall, 9-1 in North Central Conference), who have won seven straight since a loss to Hampton-Dumont in early December.
Anna Yung scored 12 points and had seven rebounds, four assists and three steals, while Jaci Stumpf contributed eight points, seven assists and six steals.
"We talked at halftime about staying focused and continuing to stick to our plan," SEHS head coach Scott Messerly said. "It was kind of hard because of the score, but I was happy with the way the girls remained intense and played.
"Coming off the break, I wasn't sure what to expect, but we got right after it."
The Gaels turned a 17-3 first quarter lead into a 40-6 advantage by halftime, enforcing the running-clock for the remainder of the game.
