GARY A. BEEBE

HUMBOLDT - Gary A. Beebe, 81, of Humboldt, passed away January 4, 2013 at the Humboldt Care Center North. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Humboldt with the Rev. Gene Broughton officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation with the family will be 5-8 p.m. Monday (today) at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.

Gary is survived by his wife, Joann Beebe of Humboldt; his sons, David (Melissa West) Beebe, Dan (Terri) Beebe, and Dennis (Tammy) Beebe all of Peoria, AZ; 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; brother, Richard Beebe of Santa Fe, NM; and sisters, Darlene Hellickson of Humboldt and Pat Anderson of Lee Summit, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Dean Beebe in 2006.

Gary Allen Beebe, the son of Asoph and Bernice (Vinsand) Beebe, was born January 31, 1931 at Humboldt, Iowa. He was raised and educated at Humboldt and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1949 where he participated in Basketball and football.

Gary enlisted into the United States Navy during the Korean War and served aboard the USS Albany in the Pacific. He was united in marriage to Joann Anderson on May 20, 1952 at the First Lutheran Church in Humboldt while on leave from the Navy. Following his honorable discharge in 1954, Gary returned home and went to work for Wally Schliefert and Don Mangle in the plumbing business. In the mid 1950's, Gary established Beebe Plumbing and Heating, first working out of the family's garage, building the business to eventually include his sons. Gary stayed active in the business working for his son Dan then his grandson-in-law, Adam Smith until the age of 78.

In addition to his work, Gary also enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing with his sons, including trips to Black Duck Lake in Minnesota for 35 years, and summers with the family at Twin Lakes.
