HUMBOLDT - It's already been a busy week for the St. Edmond wrestling team and it's just going to heat up tonight when the Gaels travel to face Humboldt.
The Gaels (10-5 overall) will meet the red-hot Wildcats, who are the lone unbeaten team left in the North Central Conference.
Action will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Humboldt gym.
The Gaels have ran off eight consecutive dual victories with wins over Eagle Grove, five on their way the SE Duals championship and wins against Mason City Newman and Garner-Hayfield on Tuesday night.
"We just want to keep the momentum going,'' said St. Edmond head coach Tanner Utley. "We just need the mat time and have to continue to improve each time out.''
The Wildcats own league victories over Algona, Webster City, Clear Lake and Clarion-Goldfield. Last week they turned in an impressive showing at the Jack Mendenhall Invitational in Ames.
Second-ranked and unbeaten Reed Dreyer (195) claimed an individual championship, while ninth-ranked Nikko Wheeler (182) was third.
Also ranked for the Wildcats is Dylan Hendricks (No. 9) at 285 pounds.
Ranked for the Gaels are Kaden McClintock (No. 5 at 113), Teddie Harvey (No. 4 at 152), and Vinnie Harvey (No. 1 at 220). Both Harvey brothers are undefeated on the season.
"Humboldt is a very solid team,'' Utley said. "They are balanced for the top of their lineup to the bottom.
"We have to come out and wrestle with a lot of intensity.''
