Housing and more proposed budgets are among the items to be considered by the Fort Dodge City Council on Monday.
The council's activity will begin at 5 p.m. in the Municipal Building, 819 First Ave. S., with a workshop discussion on potential tax breaks to encourage the construction of more new homes.
As new businesses get established and some existing ones expand, providing homes for those who will come to Fort Dodge for jobs has become a priority for the city government and the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance.
The council's regular business meeting will start at 6 p.m. in the Municipal Building. Among other things, the council is expected to act on a capital improvement plan outlining the major projects to be done between now and 2018. The council will also consider a couple of zoning issues, including rezoning the site of some new townhomes on the city's west side.
Following the regular business meeting, the council will have another workshop to consider the proposed 2013-2014 budget for the Department of Business Affairs and Community Growth.
