For many people, part of the American Dream is the opportunity to be their own boss by starting a business. Local residents who want to learn more about how to make that goal a reality are in luck - the Entrepreneur Expo 2013 is Tuesday.
The mission of the expo is to give would-be business owners critical information about the process of starting a business venture. Additionally, the expo will familiarize those who attend with some of the resources that can be of help in getting a business launched.
Lisa Shimkat, who is the regional director of the Iowa Small Business Development Center in Northern Iowa, said an event like the expo helps people who are interested in becoming business owners understand the sometimes confusing and complicated process of doing so.
"There are so many questions that entrepreneurs have that are in common," she said. "This is a great way to get the resources in front of the potential entrepreneurs."
There will be no shortage of experts and representatives of pertinent organizations on hand to answer questions and provide advice.
"There will be 24 different resources right there in front of the entrepreneurs," Shimkat said.
