JOHNSTON - Unable to overcome another sluggish start, the Fort Dodge girls basketball team dropped a 63-35 decision against Johnston Monday night.
The Dodgers (3-11 overall) were held to just 14 points in the first half and never seriously challenged the Dragons.
"We were distracted and not focused as much as we should have been on the game," said FDSH head coach Scott Timmerman. "We just lacked intensity all night long."
Lani Van Zyl, a sophomore, paced the Dodgers with 11 points, while classmate Mallory Kilian added eight.
"All the loose balls were going (Johnston's) direction," Timmerman said. "It wasn't so much about what they did, but more about ourselves not being locked in.
"There were not a whole lot of positives."
