Senior Night has a chance to be an extra special one for Fort Dodge wrestling standout Duke Egli.

The two-time state qualifier and second-ranked (Class 3A) 170-pounder will go for his 100th career victory this evening when the Dodgers (6-7 overall, 1-1 CIC Northern Division) welcome Ames for their final regular-season dual meet.

Junior varsity matches will start at 6:30 p.m., followed by varsity action at approximately 7:30 p.m.

"Duke has had some injuries throughout his career, but he's put in a lot of time and hard work to make gains," FDSH head coach Bobby Thompson said. "It would be nice to see him (earn his 100th win) in front of the home crowd."

Egli, who has been nursing a sore neck, owns a perfect 29-0 record on the season. Other ranked individuals in the Dodger lineup are junior Riley Prescott ( No. 8 at 195 pounds) and senior Kyle Johnson (No. 9 at 220).

In their previous outing on Saturday, the Dodgers went 2-2 at the Waverly-Shell Rock duals tournament. Fort Dodge easily downed both Waterloo West and Des Moines East, while falling to Waukee and No. 4 (3A) Waverly-Shell Rock. Erik Birnbaum (106), Johnson and Sam Cook (182) all compiled perfect 4-0 marks on the day for the Dodgers, while Cole Detmering (113) and Kole Evans (120) were each 3-1.

Sixth-ranked (3A) and two-time state participant Nathan Twito (132) is the lone rated grappler for the Little Cyclones (4-5, 1-1), who are under the direction of former Dodger assistant Drew Kelly.

"(The dual) will be all about matchups," Thompson said. "(Ames) is pretty solid at 26, 32, 38 and 60."

Last winter, Fort Dodge cruised to a 60-18 triumph over Ames.

Following tonight's dual, the Dodgers will compete in the CIC Tournament Feb. 1 at Southeast Polk. FDSH will then host a 3A district meet on Feb. 9.
