The Webster County Board of Supervisors approved replacement housing benefits, tenant relocation benefits and moving expenses with the flood buyout program.
Carissa Miller, a planner with MIDAS Council of Governments said the benefits are in regards to the buyout of properties affected by 2010 floods in the Breen Addition north of Fort Dodge.
Benefits of up to $10,000 were made available to property owners or tenants in the affected area to assist with relocation or replacement housing.
"This is a benefit for those who relocated outside of the floodplain," said Miller.
Miller updated the board on the buyout program, and that one property has yet to be acquired. She expects the acquisition to be complete in the near future as the property owners close on a new home.
"We had to wait for them to find a replacement home," said Miller. "They are now in the process of closing on a new home."
The board also approved the request for a 90-day extension on the demolition of the properties.
"FEMA requires that we have 90 days to demolish the properties after acquiring them," said Miller. We will bid the projects and start the demolition hopefully within the next two months but we want to make sure we have the extension in place in case the bids aren't completed on time."
In other business, the board approved a salary adjustment for Joseph Peterson to $28,350 effective Jan. 30 and approved the employment of Austin Scott as part-time correctional officer.
The board also heard from Myron Groat, representing the Webster County Museum Association, who updated the board on the museum's roof project and operating expenses and asked for any financial support the county may be able to provide in 2014.
