OGDEN - Focused on the task at hand, the St. Edmond wrestling team will compete in a Class 1A sectional meet today.
Start time is set for noon.
Joining the No. 4 Gaels in the field are Prairie Valley, Southeast Webster-Grand, South Hamilton, CMB-Baxter, fifth-ranked West Marshall and host Ogden.
The top two finishers at every weight class advance to next week's district meet in Jewell. Both the sectional champion and runner-up move on to the regional team finals, which determines state duals participants.
"West Marshall is ranked right behind us, and we've already seen Ogden and South Hamilton this year," SEHS head coach Tanner Utley said. "This is a pretty decent sectional, so we need to be ready right out of the gate."
Sophomore Ryan Szalat ( No. 8 at 106 pounds), junior Kaden McClintock (No. 4 at 113), senior Teddie Harvey (No. 1 at 145) and junior Vinnie Harvey (No. 1 at 220) headline St. Edmond's lineup. Defending state qualifiers McClintock (36-0), Teddie Harvey (35-0) and Vinnie Harvey (36-0) all boast unbeaten records on the season. Brothers Teddie and Vinnie are each seeking their third straight sectional titles.
