Choosing a new director

February 28, 2013
Messenger News

To the editor:

The Webster County veterans commissioners, Ray Ault, Rikki Goshorn and Tom Dorsey, want to thank every one of the 30 persons who applied to be the Veterans Affairs director for Webster County. After studying the resumes the commissioners decided to interview those who we felt were the seven very best qualified persons for the position. We were truly awed by all of the talented people in Webster County who were sincerely interested in serving veterans. Choosing a new director was not an easy decision as the interviews were all very well received and we are sure nearly all of those interviewed would have been successful in the position. After some heartfelt discussions we believed Dan Lewandowski, of Fort Dodge, was the person we wanted as an advocate for and an adviser to the veterans of this area. We believe Dan has the qualifications, dedication and eagerness to succeed in the position.

We would also like to thank the retiring director, Russ Naden, for his five years of service to the veterans of Webster County and for the professionalism he brought to the office.

The commissioners would also like to thank Amy Porter, Webster County human resources director, for her assistance and advice with hiring process. It was greatly appreciated.
