BUFFALO, N.Y. - In their first year of existence, the Iowa Central men's and women's bowling teams had strong showings at the NJCAA National Tournament on Saturday.
The Triton women finished second, while the men were third.
On the women's side, Leah Heim (third), Ashley Rolfes (sixth) and Samantha Drimalla (eighth) all finished with All American honors.
"We are ectatic,'' said Iowa Central head coach Gregg Haden. "With a new program you never know what to expect.
"Now we know where we stand on a national level. To have coaches congratulate you on how well your team competes for a first year program is amazing.''
On the men's side, Cody Brandau finished fifth and earned All American honors.
"Both the men and the women bowled their best by far,'' Haden said. "We did well and were all pumped up for the national tourney.
"This was very huge and very gratifying. All the hard work and practice and traveling paid off.''
The Tritons will now take part in the Intercollegiate Team Championships in Fairview Heights, Ill.
