THOR - Lois P. Holtan, 79, of Thor, passed away March 10, 2013 at the Humboldt Care Center North. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at The Ullensvang Lutheran Church in Thor. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Lois Priscilla Bakke was born April 1, 1933 to Rev. Halvor and Inger (Maaland) Bakke at the parsonage at McCallsburg. Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church. She attended school in McCallsburg and graduated from High School in 1951. In the fall she enrolled in Waldorf College at Forest City, Iowa. She sang for two years with the Waldorf Acappella Choir, and earned an Associate Degree in Elementary Education in 1953.
On August 8th of 1953, she married Roger G. Holtan. She taught school at Humboldt, Iowa for 1 year, and 2 years in the Thor Independent School System while Roger completed his military training. After raising her family, Lois worked as an aide and in the activity department at the North Care Center in Humboldt, Iowa. She taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, sang in the church choir, and was involved in Circles and Ladies aide at Ullensvang Lutheran Church for her entire life in Thor.

She is survived by: her husband, Roger, sons Randall (Linda) Holtan, Las Vegas, NV, Scott (Anne) Holtan, Coal Valley, Il, daughters Maria (Kurt) Olson, Humboldt Iowa, and Julie (A.J. Taylor) Holtan, Lakeside, AZ. Brother-in-law Robert Foster, Iowa City, Iowa, sister-in-law Charlene Bakke, Muscatine, IA, and many nieces and nephews. Grandchildren, Craig (Lolly) Olson, Adam Olson (Megan Klinkradt), Alissa Cannon (Mike Williamson), Brittany Cannon (Andy Struecker), Cody and Connor Holtan, Ryan and Tyler Holtan. Great-granddaughter Scarlett Olson and at least 4 dachshunds. Her parents, brothers Harold, Milford, Erling, and Richard Bakke, and sister Cora Foster preceded her in death. She also had 3 stillborn children, Sara Louise. Angela Kaye, and Thomas Cory. She will be greatly missed by her family and many good friends!
