Non-union employees of Fort Dodge city government will have to begin paying for part of their health insurance coverage next year under a plan approved by the City Council Monday.
Those workers will have to pay 8 percent of their premiums or switch to a new plan with a high deductible and a health savings account. Those provision are equal to the plans included in a new contract with unionized firefighters.
Council Dean Hill cast the lone vote against the proposal, saying he didn't believe city employees had been fully informed of the change.
