STORM LAKE - Making its first outdoor appearance of the year, the St. Edmond boys track team settled for a third straight runner-up showing at the CYO meet on Wednesday.
Behind four event victories, the Gaels compiled 122 points. Sioux City Heelan (199) repeated as champions. Carroll Kuemper (91) finished third.
The Gael girls were third.
Winning a pair of gold medals for SEHS was Hank Lentsch (high jump, 6-2 and high hurdles, 15.38), while Seth Reel (3200, 10:19.91) and the medley relay (Cory Angstrom, Devin Camamo, David Flattery and Landon Peed, 3:52.62) also earned titles.
Placing second for the Gaels were Angstrom (long jump, 20-9.5), Reel (800, 2:09.44 and 1600, 4:49.86), the 4x200 (TJ O'Tool, Peed, Reel and Flattery, 1:37.59), the 4x400 (O'Tool, Peed, Reel and Flattery, 3:43.59) and the 4x800 (O'Tool, Nick Johnson, Jacob Hamilton and Flattery, 9:15.25).
In addition, Peed (400, 54.60) and the shuttle hurdle (Landon Hughett, Tristan Sitzmann, Matthew Bocken and Lentsch, 1:05.84) were each third.
The Gael girls registered 78 points. Sioux City Heelan (201) and Bishop Garrigan (97) paced the field.
Hannah Lentsch (high jump, 5-4) and the 4x200 (Madi Reel, Maric Salocker, Maddie McCarville and Clare Flattery, 1:58.27) each posted victories. Lentsch set a new personal best by four inches.
Turning in runner-up efforts for the Gaels were Mary Eide (1500, 5:24.40), the distance medley (Libby Augustine, McCarville, Jaci Brungardt and Eide, 4:43.71), the sprint medley (Augustine, McCarville, Lentsch and Reel, 2:03.12) and the 4x100 (Reel, Lentsch, McCarville and Augustine, 55.62).
St. Edmond's 4x800 (Kara Salinas, Flattery, Leah Cosgrove and Carter Waddell, 12:14.76), Reel (100, 13.40) and Salinas (400 hurdles, 1:16.97) were all third.
