Webster County Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Kenyon stops to check on Dale Birkland, 90, of Moorland, after he was involved in a collision Wednesday at Webster County Road P29 and U.S. Highway 20. According to Kenyon, Birkland was northbound on P29 when he was struck by a westbound vehicle driven by Eric Bergren, 60, of Kansas City, Mo. Kenyon said the initial investigation indicated that Birkland may have failed to stop. Bergren was taken to Trinity Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The accident occurred at about 10:30 a.m. The Iowa State Patrol, Moorland Fire Department, Trinity Regional Medical Center and the Webster County Sheriff’s Department responded to the accident. Birkland did not appear to be injured.
