Liz Pannkuk, of Humboldt, receives a flower from Ann Machovec, of Fort Dodge, after being chosen as “prom queen” for the Civitan Club’s annual spring dance at Rides Banquet Center in Fort Dodge. To the left, prom king Rodney Dunscombe, of Fort Dodge, joins in a round of applause. Around 115 attended the dance.
The Fort Dodge Civitan Club was recently awarded the “Honor Club of Excellence” for the 2011-2012 year from Civitan International. This honors the Fort Dodge club’s service to the community and its growth by seven members in that year.
The club does projects for the mentally and physically handicapped. They put on two dances every year and play Bingo at area group homes, said President-Elect Nancy Leo.
The Fort Dodge Civitan Club has 25 members and meets weekly at 7 a.m. Wednesdays at Zakeer’s Restaurant.
