GILMORE CITY - (Lois) Priscilla Meyer, Gilmore City, died peacefully Saturday, May 4th, after a long, courageous battle against cancer. A celebration of her life will be held with a visitation at Harris Funeral Home, Gilmore City, Thursday, May 9th from 5:00-8:00pm. Funeral Service will be at First Lutheran Church, Gilmore City, Friday, May 10th at 10:30 a.m..
Priscilla was born January 31, 1941 in Wakeeney, KS, the daughter of Claude and Lois Hough. She grew up in western Kansas and upon graduating from high school, she moved to Iowa the place she called home the rest of her life. Her marriage to Larry 'Fritz' Meyer was November 29, 1980, and for 32+ years their home in Gilmore has been the family's center of love and gathering.
She was active in the community by volunteering for various activities, serving on the school board, the city council, an 1st Responder/EMT, Gilmore City Fun Days committee, and playing organ for church services. She was proud to be a part of the team that made the new Gilmore City fire station a reality.
Priscilla had a variety of hobbies over the years, from gardening to candle-making, and had recently retired from being a medical transcriptionist, a job she truly enjoyed.
She was a fiercely devoted mother and grandmother, loved spending time with family and friends, hosted 'Grandkids Camp', and her home was open and welcoming to all. Her unconditional love and servant-heart was an inspiration and she will be dearly missed.
Those left to cherish her memory include: husband Larry, children: Pam Hendershot (husband Bill), Duane Thompson (wife Rose), Mark Thompson (wife Sally), Kevin Thompson (wife Erin). Step-children Penny Meyer, Corey Meyer (wife Liz), Grandchildren: Nathan, Eric, Tyler, Miranda, Mitchell, Shelby, Madeline, Grant, Delaney, Beth, Derek, Ethan, Rosie, and great-grandchildren: Bobby and Tiffany, sister Kathleen Miller and brothers: Dan Hough, Roy Hough and Claude Hough.
She is preceded in death by her parents and infant grandson Kevin Richard Thompson.
