WAUKEE - The Fort Dodge girls track team competed at the CIC meet here Monday.

The Dodgers earned a third place in the 4x200-meter relay, clocking a time of 1:47.40.

Waukee was the overall meet champion, while Fort Dodge finished in 10th.

Running the 4x2 were Fatima Newsome, Ashley Altman, Lexi Astor and Tiana Mericle.

"Our 4x2 ran better than they have all year," FDSH head coach Todd Constable said. "We pushed our relays hard (Monday), preparing them for districts on Thursday.

"I'm excited about what I saw and think the kids ran well."

Fort Dodge also placed fourth in the sprint medley (1:55.99) behind Newsome, Alexis Lessmeier, Mericle and Astor.

Astor was also sixth in the long jump, as was the 4x100 of Newsome, Lessmeier, Astor and Mericle.

Fort Dodge will host a district meet on Thursday at Dodger Stadium.
