WAUKEE - Senior Connor Hubbard and sophomore Cray Washington were crowned individual champions at the Central Iowa Conference boys meet here on Monday.
Hubbard captured the discus title with a throw of 153 feet, 5 inches. Washington established a new personal best with a 22.25 in the 200-meter run - good for first place and a mark that ranks him among the top five in the state this spring.
''I was really happy for Connor and Cray,'' FDSH head coach John McBride said. ''It was great for our program to have two champions in such a strong field.
''They're both performing with great confidence right now and are really coming on strong. Connor's reaching his peak and Cray is dropping time and getting quicker out of the blocks.''
Washington was also second in the 100 with a time of 11 seconds flat. Junior Riley Prescott was fourth in the shot put (48-3), as was Keegan Jones in the low hurdles (57.26).
Fort Dodge's 4x100 (Keegan Myers, Austin Anderson, Jones and Washington) was seventh in 44.51. The Dodgers' 4x400 (Anderson, Myers, Joey Gerdes, Zach Anderson) was eighth (3:36.61), as was the shuttle hurdle relay (Tyler Vaughn, Anderson, Adrean Johnson, Jones, 1:03.15).
Waukee (150 points) ran away with the team championship. Johnston (102) was second. Fort Dodge (42) placed ninth.
The Dodgers host a co-ed district meet on Thursday at 4 p.m.
