The St. Edmond girls tennis team cruised to a pair of victories in Class 1A regional play Saturday at Dodger Courts.
After earning a 5-0 shutout over Webster City in their opener, the Gaels (5-2 overall) blanked Iowa Falls-Alden by that same count in the semifinals.
Mary Eide, Ellen Chalstrom, Claire Crimmins and Emilee Mobley each contributed two wins for SEHS, while Jasmine Myers and Madeline Baldwin each added one triumph.
"We just kind of went out, took control and did what we're supposed to do," said Gael head coach Tyler Philipsen. "We really wanted to dominate as much as possible in preparing for individual regionals (1A individual regionals will be held Thursday in Norwalk). "
St. Edmond now advances to face Waterloo Columbus in a 1A team regional final on May 20.
Next outing for the Gaels is Monday when they host Webster City. Start time is set for 4:30 p.m. at Butler Courts.
