To the editor:
This letter provides an opportunity to express my thanks to the board of directors of the Brushy Creek Area Honor Flight Organization for the May 11th Flight to our nation's capital.
I was a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean War from Jan., 1953 to Oct. 1954. Even though I was not sent overseas to Korea, I was treated on the Honor Flight as if I had a chest full of metals.
We were taken by tour bus to all the war memorials in Washington D.C., fed four or five great meals, given roll call mail from our spouse and children, and treated for approximately 16 hours as true heros. A huge crowd greeted us at Dulles International Airport in Washington, and an even larger crowd upon our arrival at the Fort Dodge Airport.
The trip was made possible by the many large contributions from business firms, churches, and from generous individuals. This expression of appreciation makes a person very humble and thankful to the entire group that sent us on May 11.
