Officer injured in traffic stop, arrest
Mark Allen Mendenhall, of 311 First Ave. S. was charged with assault on a police officer with injury Saturday morning in Webster County Magistrate Court.
According to the complaint, the incident happened Friday evening during a traffic stop at the intersection of South 15th Street and Sixth Avenue South when Mendenhall fought with and tried to run from officer Chris Weiland of the Fort Dodge Police Department. Weiland suffered an injury to his shoulder according to the report.
Webster County Magistrate William Thatcher set bail for Mendenhall at $2,000 on the assault charge. In addition, bail was set at $2,000 for an additional charge of interference with official acts.
Mendenhall also has a $10,000 bail for a third charge of a parole violation. A preliminary hearing for all three charges has been scheduled for May 24 in Webster County District Court.
He remains in the Webster County Jail.
