Women managing their own farming operations now have the chance to connect with other women through a course designed to empower them to take control of their operations through Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.
The class, consisting of six three-hour sessions, will teach women about financial management, marketing, human resources, dealing with the public and computer technology. Classes meet from 6 to 9 p.m. on June 4, 6 , 11, 18, 25 and July 2 in Room 108 of the Career Education Building at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge.
"Typically, there is a low percentage of women participants in agriculture programs offered through ISU Extension and Outreach," said Mary Jo Wagner, an Extension program coordinator. "Women have a unique learning need, and they need to have programs designed to meet their learning profile. That's why I'm excited to have the 'Annie's Project' coming to our area."
Registration is $75 per person. Space is limited so preregistration is advised. A brochure can be found at tinyurl.com/anniesproject-FD. For more information about Annie's Project, contact the Webster County Extension office at 576-2119.
