WATERLOO - The St. Edmond girls tennis team was ousted in a Class 1A regional final here Monday, falling to Waterloo Columbus, 5-0.
Columbus advances to the next round of play, which takes place later this week.
Seniors Mary Eide and Ellen Chalstrom will both play in the individual state meet next week as state qualifiers.
"We knew (Columbus) would be a tough team and they proved that," said SEHS head coach Tyler Philipsen. "We needed to play near-perfect, and we just couldn't do that."
This was the final action for seniors Claire Crimmins, Jazmine Myers and Emilee Mobley.
"I am really going to miss having those three girls in the lineup next year," Philipsen said. "They've meant a lot to the St. Edmond tennis program."
