The Iowa Department of Public Safety has announced that all ground searches for Kathlynn Shepard, 15, will be suspended, saying "efforts have been exhausted at this time."
River searches are expected to resume once water levels go down, according to the DPS.
"Officers want to reiterate that we are not giving up hope of finding Kathlynn and will continue until we can resolve this horrific act," the press release stated.
Shepard was abducted on May 20 while walking home from school. Her alleged abductor, Michael Klunder, committed suicide later that night.
