Kirk Levin admitted kidnapping Jessica Vega after he waived his Miranda rights, according to a Sac County Sheriff's captain.

Capt. Brian Erritt said that although Levin admitted kidnapping the Storm Lake woman Levin told investigators "he couldn't really recall how he got to Storm Lake" and indicated "he must have" used his mother's car.

Levin is also charged with first degree murder in the choking and stabbing death of his mother, Marilyn Schmitt.

Jurors also heard from Dr. Sabrina Seehafer, a DNA specialist with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. Seehafer said she documented the crime scene on video and collected blood samples from around the house to be analyzed at the DCI's crime lab.

Seehafer's testimony is expected to continue this afternoon.
