Q:What year did your business start?
Q: What motivated the company's founders to start the business?
A: A construction worker saw the need to purchase a good piece of used construction equipment. His idea became Contractors Hot Line, a newsletter of sorts listing used heavy construction
equipment for sale, and thus a company was born.
Q: How many full- and part-time employees do you have?
A:Heartland currently employs 119 full-time employees and 6 part-time employees. The majority of the employees work at the Fort Dodge location, but Heartland has offices in Des Moines, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Arizona, Missouri, Arkansas, Georgia and, as of early 2013, the United Kingdom.
Q:What is Heartland Communications' niche?
A: Heartland currently publishes more than 25 different weekly, monthly and annual publications, as well produces numerous websites and digital products. We serve our client's marketing needs in a multitude of industries, including agriculture, aviation, construction, industrial machines and many other niche industries. Heartland is also one of downtown Fort Dodge's largest employers.
Q: What do you like about being located in downtown Fort Dodge?
A: This allows Heartland Communications to provide a tremendous boost to our local economy, since more than 90 percent of our revenue is generated from sources outside of Iowa. The majority of that revenue is reinvested into Fort Dodge and
surrounding communities through wages to our employees and local vendors.
