Fort Dodge Dentist Dr. John P. Clay, 38, and his wife, Katherine E. Clay, were injured late Wednesday in a three-vehicle accident at the intersection of North 15th Street and 10th Avenue North, according to Lt. Kelly Hindman of the Iowa State Patrol.
Dr. Clay was treated and released Unity Point Health - Trinity Regional Medical Center. His wife was initially taken to Trinity with him, but then airlifted to Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines with serious injuries, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
John Clay was operating a 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and Katherine Clay was a passenger. Both were thrown from the motorcycle.
According to the ISP, the Clays were northbound on North 15th Street shortly before 10 p.m. A vehicle being driven by Abigail L. Redmond, 18, Fort Dodge, was southbound, as was a 1994 Chysler Concorde, being driven by John A. Bradley, 63, Fort Dodge.
Both Clay and Redmond were intending to make left-hand turns. The motorcycle turned in front of Bradley and was hit. Redmond's vehicle was not struck.
The collision remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed at this time.
