A man police say shot and injured a Fort Dodge man on June 21 has turned himself in to law enforcement officials almost a week after the incident occurred.
Devone M. Hameed, 21, of Fort Dodge, has been charged with attempted murder in the case.
Hameed walked into the Webster County Law Enforcement Center shortly before 9:30 Thursday morning and turned himself in, according to Fort Dodge Police Chief Tim Carmody.
Investigators had been looking for Hameed since last week's shooting.
In that incident, officers were in the area of 300 N. Ninth St. around 12:14 p.m. investigating a call about gunshots in the area. At the same time, Carmody said another call came in from the 800 block of Fourth Avenue North saying a man had been shot.
When police arrived, they found Cameron D. Carodine, 23, of Fort Dodge, who had sustained a gunshot wound to his left hip area. Carodine was taken to Trinity Regional Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries and released a short time later.
The investigation led officers to charge Hameed with attempted murder.
Hameed is expected to make his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court this morning.
