ALGONA - The sixth-ranked (Class 2A) St. Edmond softball team regained its winning form Friday night, picking up a decisive 11-4 victory over Bishop Garrigan.
Anna Yung went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs scored and a RBI for the Gaels (19-5 overall, 12-2 in the North Central Conference).
Jaci Stumpf, Allie Oberg and Katie Donnelly each added a pair of hits for SEHS, which never trailed after a four-run first inning. Harvey homered for the fourth time this season, scored twice and drove in two, while Oberg tallied three RBI. Josie Heesch also crossed the plate twice.
"Our offense played really well, and we had contributions from everyone," said St. Edmond head coach Paul Hunt. "Anytime you can get off to an early lead, it puts you in a real good spot."
Donnelly (9-2) went the distance in the win, allowing 10 hits and four earned runs. She walked one and fanned five.
Betty Straub finished 3-for-4 for the Golden Bears (13-13, 9-6), while Nicole Zeimet added two doubles. As a team, Garrigan hit a season-high six two-baggers.
