LAKE CITY - Except for a few scattered showers, the rain stayed away Saturday during Lake City's annual Western Days celebration, and people flocked to town for the activities.
The weekend-long event kicked off with a street dance and beer garden on Friday night. Saturday's events included the Stewart Memorial Community Hospital Fun Run in the morning, vendors in the town square, musical entertainment at the bandstand, the big parade in the early afternoon, a car show at the town square and the Lake City Union Church's annual ice cream social.
Western Days' signature event, the two-night rodeo hosted by the Top Rail Saddle Club, packed the arena on Saturday night and concluded with a fireworks show. The rodeo will return today for a second night filled with team roping, barrel racing, bull riding and more.
