ALGONA - The St. Edmond baseball team flashed its potential with a doubleheader sweep of Bishop Garrigan on Tuesday night.

Following a 5-0 shutout in the opener, the Gaels (12-12 overall, 7-7 NCC) cruised to a 9-2 victory in the second game.

"It was great to get two wins against Garrigan," said SEHS head coach Joe Shanks. "We got on base and guys pushed guys around. Our kids are getting confidence they can finish."

Tommy Setterdahl collected two singles and a RBI in the first contest, while Cal Coleman had a two-run double.

Freshman Robert Flattery went the distance on the mound, allowing just one hit with three walks and three strikeouts.

"Robert commanded the strike zone and changed speeds," Shanks said. "It was also nice to see our kids bear down and put the ball in play hard."
