STORY CITY - Timely hitting proved to be the difference for the St. Edmond baseball team on Friday night in a Class 2A district semifinal.
The Gaels (16-13 overall) scored early and tacked on what proved to be the winning run in the top of the seventh inning, earning a 7-6 victory over North Central Conference foe Eagle Grove (9-20).
"We weren't perfect by any means, but a win's a win at tournament time,'' said St. Edmond head coach Joe Shanks. "We got quality at bats against (Eagle pitcher Brennan) Cameron."
