Carlisle and state tournament softball at Rogers Park go hand-in-hand.

Tuesday afternoon, the fourth-ranked (Class 4A) Wildcats moved into the semifinal round with a convincing 3-1 victory over No. 11 Waverly-Shell Rock.

Carlisle (33-7 overall) will now face Washington, which upset third-ranked Solon, Thursday on Diamond 2 at 5:30 p.m.

This marks the 12th appearance at state for the Wildcats and head coach Jim Flaws, who picked up career victory No. 933 vs. the Go-Hawks (34-9).

Sophomore Shyanne Dubois tossed a four-hitter, while also connecting on a home run to help her own cause at the plate. She finished with two RBI, while Taylor Davis drove in the other run.

"I felt pretty good," said Dubois, who has received a lot of important tips from her family members during the lead-up to state. "(My family) just told me not to be nervous, and I think I did a good job of that for the most part."
