Third-ranked (Class 2A) Durant made sure there would be no tears after the state semifinals this year.
The Wildcats scored a 6-0 victory over Ridge View Thursday afternoon, advancing to today's championship game vs. Treynor.
First-pitch is set for 12:15 p.m. on Diamond 1 at Rogers Park. Treynor (30-5 overall) is the defending state champions in the class.
Durant (34-8) plated two quick runs in the first over state newcomer Ridge View (31-12), and added three more in the fifth to ice the game away. The Raptors, who will play eighth-ranked AGWSR (28-8) for third at 11:30 a.m. this morning, defeated St. Edmond in the state quarterfinals.
Sidney Lilienthal drove in four runs on three hits, including a triple and a double, while Anna Bentley had two RBI and two hits.
Lindsay Kelting and Kristin Porstmann also had two hits for the Wildcats, who placed third a year ago and return eight starts off that team. They have won nine straight and are 14-2 in the last 16 played overall.

"We've worked hard to get here, will enjoy this win, but we have one more game left and it's a big one."
Paige Compton finished with a three-hitter, striking out six to earn her 20th victory of the year. In a 2-0 win over Lawton-Bronson in the quarters, she allowed just three hits and had seven strikeouts.
