Trooper Aaron Smidt, of the Iowa State Patrol, looks over two vehicles that were involved in a collision near Moorland around noon Saturday. According to ISP Trooper Paul Gardner, a white Dodge pickup truck, driven by Michael Ascherl, of Fort Dodge, was driving south on Dakota Avenue while an SUV, driven by Suzanna Nachbar, was traveling east on 250th Street. The two vehicles hit each other at the intersection, sending both into the ditch. Nachbar was taken to Trinity Regional Medical Center, but Gardner wasn’t sure how severe her injuries were. He attributed the accident to neither driver slowing down as they approached the intersection, and said there were no other factors. The intersection does not have a stop or yield sign. Webster County sheriff’s deputies and the Moorland Fire Department also responded to the scene.
