LIVERMORE - Two Humboldt teenagers were killed and three others injured - one seriously - early Saturday morning in a single-vehicle accident three miles east of Livermore, near the intersection of 130th Street and Rose Avenue.

Cody Schachtner, 18, and Joshua Naeve, 19, were pronounced dead at the scene.

They were passengers in a vehicle being driven by Cody Weisbrich, 18. Both he and Tyler Zaugg, 19, were treated and released at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital.

However, a third passenger, Landon Nokleby, 19, was treated at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital then airlifted to Iowa Methodist Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

A representative of Iowa Methodist Medical Center Saturday afternoon said the hospital is not authorized to release information about Nokleby's condition.

According to Iowa State Patrol reports, Weisbrich was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Impala northbound on Rose Avenue at about 1:45 a.m., south of the intersection with 130th street.

He apparently lost control of the vehicle, which dropped off the west side of the roadway.

Weisbrich apparently overcorrected and then rolled over onto the roadway and then slid to a stop on its roof.

The collision investigation is being conducted by Trooper Mark Anderson, a reconstructionist with the Iowa State Patrol.

According to Lt. Kelly Hindman, ISP district 7 commander, "It will be a few weeks before chemical testing is completed."

The Humboldt County Sheriff's DepMemorial artment, Humboldt County Hospital Ambulance, Renwick Fire Department and Renwick Ambulance Service assisted with the investigation.
