Rescue workers prepare to remove Rickey Lee Harrington, 62, of Fort Dodge, from a 2010 Ford Focus Thursday afternoon after a four-car chain reaction accident on U.S. Highway 169 just south of 270th Street.

The first vehicle struck was a 2005 van driven by Christopher Glen Nedved, 51, of Fort Dodge, which then struck a 2004 Cadillac driven by Peter Lloyd Vandeventer, 63, of Rosemont, Minn. A passenger in the Cadillac, Sheryl Vandeventer, was transported to Trinity Regional Medical Center. The last vehicle involved, a 2013 Toyota Tundra, was occupied by Michael John Richards, 64, of West Des Moines.
