A 27-year-old Kentucky man was robbed at gunpoint Friday night at the intersection of First Avenue North and North Ninth Street shortly after 9 p.m., according to a press release from the Fort Dodge Police Department.
Robert Lee, of Highland Heights, Ky., said that while he was stopped for a traffic signal he was approached by a black male who robbed him at gunpoint. Lee followed the suspect to a home at 811 Fourth Ave. N. that police searched at 10:23 p.m. after obtaining a warrant. However, "officers were not able to locate the suspect after a thorough search was conducted."
Lee reported an undisclosed amount of cash was taken.
The suspect is described as a middle-aged black male about 6 foot tall and 250 pounds with short black hair. The suspect was wearing tan or khaki shorts and a black T-shirt with a white towel draped over his shoulder at the time of the robbery.
Fort Dodge Police Sgt. Chuck Guthrie said the suspect was still at large as of late Saturday afternoon.
