Appreciates support

September 12, 2013
Messenger News

I, as well as Holy Trinity Parish, would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the individuals who turned out this past Saturday morning at Corpus Christi Center to shuck, clean, cut and freeze approximately 7,500 ears of corn!

Individuals and families from all faiths turned out to assist with this project which started with an anonymous farmer who grows corn to simply give it away to those in need.

A special thank you also to the Messenger and local radio for running information on this project which helped bring out volunteers.

Because of everyone in the community working together we bagged the equivalent of 130 gallons of sweet corn. This corn was then divided up and given to Beacon of Hope, Salvation Army, Lord's Cupboard, Emanuel Lutheran Church Food Pantry in Dayton and the Holy Trinity Food Pantry.

Webster County is truly blessed to have so many organizations and people to step up and say "yes."

Blessings,

Hiedi M. Touney
