STORM LAKE - The Fort Dodge boys cross country team placed second here Tuesday at the Storm Lake Invitational.
Algona was the overall champion, while Ryan Bauermeister of Spencer won the individual race.
Dodger Alex Jackson finished second in a time of 16:18. Thomas Thompson was seventh (16:47.99).
Other FDSH counters were Austin Read (19th, 17:30.35), Ryan Wagner (27th, 17:52.18) and Nic Ganzeveld (34th, 18:04.86).
"Alex and Thomas both came on in the second half of the race and weren't too far behind the leaders," said Dodger head coach Tim Hanson. "Our other guys are definitely coming around, too, so we'll be sitting pretty good if we can keep doing that."
Bo Hjelle led the Bulldogs with a fifth place (16:34.80) individual finish.
Fort Dodge placed 11th in the girls standings. Madison Bodholdt (23rd, 16;27.91), Becca Sunken (45th, 17:30.42), Megan Nebel (68th, 18:10.09), Katarina Olson (71st, 18:59.59) and Bailey Wade (78th, 18:38.88) represented the Dodgers.
"Madison ran her season's best," Hanson said. "Our girls are dropping time from meet to meet, which is all you can ask for."
Algona was fourth led by Tangy Wiseman's runner-up showing in 14:46.14.
Cole Detmering won the boys junior varsity race from Fort Dodge.
Next action for the Dodgers is Monday at the Humboldt Invitational. Start time is set for 5 p.m. at Sheldon Park.
