Goodness still exists

To the editor:

I just want to let the Fort Dodge citizens know that although the bad news usually spreads faster than good, good still exists here. I had taken my daughter and grand daughter for a stroll down Central Avenue last Saturday during Market on Central. It was a beautiful fall day and there were many people there enjoying it. I stopped to admire a vendor's wares and a gentleman walked up to me with money in his hand and asked if I had dropped it. I reached into my pocket and sure enough all my money had worked its way out. I thanked the man several times and another gentleman approached him and shook his hand and said he was proud of him. When I counted the money there was only part of it there but I was glad to get some of it back at least. Then another man was standing several yards away held more money and asked me if it was mine. I could not believe my good fortune. I had also dropped an uncashed check and this gentleman spotted it in the street and retrieved it for me. I regret not having gotten your names but I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. You renew my faith in the honest and decent people in Fort Dodge. Thank you!
